As I said, the Magellan Z-Max is a dual-frequency GPS system designed for high accuracy RTK and Static surveys. When configured for RTK it consists of a base station and an all-on-the-pole rover. RTK corrections can be broadcast by the reliable and long-range Pacific Crest UHF radio or by GSM cellular modem. Although the Z-Max can be run without a controller, the user gains more functionality by using either the Carlson SurvCE software or TDS SurveyPro software. There are also a variety of Windows hardware platforms such as the Juniper Systems Allegro or TDS Ranger 500X.
